About the Author
Bruce Crauder is a mathematician who has worked in research algebraic geometry and now works in mathematics curricular reform. Crauder received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1981, after which he spent a post-doctoral year at the Institute for Advanced Studies. Since then, he has held positions at the University of Utah, University of Pennsylvania, University of North Carolina, Colorado State University and is now at Oklahoma State University. Crauder has, in the past, held NSF research grants in algebraic geometry and as well as several NSF grants for curricular development and reform with Benny Evans and Alan Noell. He is currently Associate Dean for Instruction, College of Arts & Sciences, at Oklahoma State.
Benny Evans received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1971. After a year at the Institute for Advanced Study he came to Oklahoma State University and is the author of over 30 publications in refereed journals and 9 books. His academic interests are in topology, group theory, and mathematics education. He is currently Head of the Mathematics Department at Oklahoma State.
Alan Noell has been an active research mathematician in the field of several complex variables since he earned his Ph.D. degree from Princeton University in 1983. He has been a Co-Principal Investigator on an EPSCoR grant and an ILI Leadership grant, and a Faculty Associate on an REU grant, all funded by the National Science Foundation. In addition he has been a Co-PI on the project “Mathematics without Calculus” funded by the Course and Curriculum Development program of the NSF. For several summers he has been involved with summer academies for junior high and high school students under grants funded by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, developing curriculum using real-world problem solving, as well as elementary probability and statistics. He is currently Professor of Mathematics at Oklahoma State.
